The search continues:
Founders solid gold lager; it said lager so I bit. Its a pilsner with no malt but hop flavors like an IPA. So interesting but not what Im looking for. The Grand Rapids, MI brewery known for IPAs cant make a real lager?

I guess Sierra Nevada brewery makes a lager seasonally, like a octoberfest or winter warmer, suppose one of those big beer barns could have some shipped in for me to try. Doubt I can get just one bottle..lol
Actually , I have a empty bottle from....it says magisterium, maibock... brewed near chicago...it wins the US non macro swill category to this point !.... i think..lol

Trying Bacher lager (its light) brewed in belgium , called a german lager, sold by aldi . It is not a world beater, but yes an american macro swill beater. Not sure how to rank it in the pale euro lager class, so maybe I will have another.

Well, the Bacher turned out pretty decent for a german style lager contract brewed in belgium for a discount grocery store. For the price it is number one on my palish euro lager rankings.... maybe top five altogether. It might be sold in europe or even imported to here with other names. But its been awhile since I've had most of the others... Grolsch flip top is still #1... but there are quite a few available here that I have not tried.

I did not notice from the packaging, this bacher being a beck's knock off. And also read online that many like it more than the german beck's...let alone the stuff brewed in swillville usa (st. louis). Anyway, I dont remember the german becks tasting like this bacher, but yea, tried it maybe 30 years ago. I am not going to bother getting the clydesdale pisswater usa version to compare.
But had noticed another aldi brew called holland was a muted version of Heineken.

I had to see so broke down and bought a sixer of St. Louis brewed Becks since their owners now own Anheiser. Well it wasnt nearly as good as the Bacher from Aldis.... with a mississippi mud flavor sticking in thyne mouth. Oh well guess becks was the bud of germany so now its crap, also. Yea, it still sorta tasted like how i remembered becks but not there...but still better than bud, just not as much better
