I saw the Dark Knight Rises this week, to be honest....it wasn't over the top impressive. I found it to be way too long in some parts and the story pretty thin in some. It was good it just wasn't the most amazing thing I have ever seen, if you want to experience a better version of the dark knight rises: read Knightfall, which is what the movie was based off of.

Still should go see it, but don't be all trembling with excitement when you go. Dark Knight/Batman Begins was much better.

Watched the new Total Recall. I wasn't expecting much, so therefore I wasn't disappointed. It is not the greatest, but definitely worth a watch.

This actually brought up memories of the original from 1990. I forgot that Sharon Stone was so cute/pretty before she became a sex pot in Basic Instinct. Kate Beckinsale plays the Sharon Stone character in the new one and she is really sexy and gives a great performance. I remember watching the original back in high school and thinking how ahead of it's time it truly was. I got a copy and watched tonight.... SO DATED, but a good piece of filmmaking. Lot's more raw violence and performances vs the new era of special effects.

If you are playing online or get a chance, you should do the comparison. Reminds me of how fast time flies! Haha, kinda like watching the 68' 2001 A Space Odyssey and comparing it to the actual 2001. Ha, or listening to Prince's 1999 in 1994 and then jamming to it again. Things that seem so far away are right around the corner.

      Being Flynn

Working in a Boston homeless shelter, Nick Flynn (Paul Dano) re-encounters his father (De Niro who has has not seen in 18 years), a con man and self-proclaimed poet. Having serious addiction trouble (alcohol and drugs) in his own life, Nick wrestles with the notion of reaching out yet again to his dad. Also in the flick is Julianne Moore who plays Nick's mom. Graphic images of the homeless shelter may not make this suitable entertainment for the squeamish. If you are a Bob De Niro fan, then this is worth a watch on DVD. Oh and this is a true story.

Today is my wife's birthday and she wanted to see this...it just opened today.

Meryl Streep and Tommy Lee Jones are believable as empty-nesters married 31 years who are desperate to save their marriage. So desperate Meryl uses $4,000 of her life savings and books a flight to Maine so she and Tommy Lee can spend a week with a marriage counselor (Steve Carell). Good story and PG-13 handling of a sensitive material. Go see it as it is worth the price of admission just to see Carell in a serious role.
